Pondicherry, May 2 (UNI) The mood of the people in Tamil Nadu is for a change in the government and the Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) led by DMK is poised to form the next government, AICC general secretary Mukul Wasnik claimed today.

Adressing a press conference here, Mr Wasnik claimed that Tamil Nadu could have moved to the path of development with the unprecedented support from the union government. The Centre had provided more than Rs 6000 crore to Tamil Nadu for Tsunami relief, Rs 1000 crore for flood and extended support in the Sethusamundram scheme and setting up the desalination plant. Unfortunately, the state government was not able to respond and the government had given prioirty to politics and ignored the issues of the people, he said.

He charged that the people of Tamil Nadu will oust the government in preference for DMK led government.

Referring to Pondicherry, he said the Congress had provided a transparent, effective and responsible government in the five years and was once again facing the people on the basis of the performance of the Rangasamy government.

He said he is confident that the people will repose faith in the Congress and vote it to power.
