Jamshedpur, May 02 (UNI) 'Celluloid Chapter', the steel city's premium cine organisation, today paid tributes to legendary film maker Satyajit Ray on his 85th birthday by kicking off a four-day film festival on Ray at Centre For Excellence here.

The festival was inaugurated by Samar Ghosh, resident director,M N Dastur Private Limited. It was followed by an interactive session.

About 80 students from various schools here participated in the session to discuss the maestro's award winning film 'Goopi Gayen Bagha Bayen' which was introduced and conducted by city-based octogenarian art critic Prabhakar Mukherjee.

An exhibition on Ray titled 'Beyond The Myth' was also inaugurated.

The exhibition depicted the four dimensions of the Oscar awardee's multi-faceted personality-as director, art designer, writer and music exponent, said one of the founders of the Chapter and vice-president Amitava Ghosh.

Apart from today's inaugural film 'Kapurush-o-Mahapurush', 'Devi', 'Mahanagar' and 'Kanchanjungha' would be screened in the next three days.

''This is our humble effort to re-invent Satyajit Ray through this small festival and the films chosen will depict various faces of Indian women,'' Mr Ghosh added.
