Itanagar, May 02 (UNI): A six-day zonal level Congress Seva Dal training camp began at Mahadevpur under Arunachal's Lohit district yesterday with state Chief Minister Gegong Apang and AICC secretary and in charge of Seva Dal Major Ved Prakash inaugurating the camp.
Laying emphasis on the training, the chief minister stated that camp would help the party cadres to familiarize themselves with the philosophy and policies of the Congress Party, party sources informed here today.
''It would help you to reach out to the people, especially the poor and needy'', he said and advocated that people and development oriented policies of the party should be carried to the people in every corner of the State.
Stressing on the need for conducting such trainings in all districts of the state, Mr Apang exhorted the trainees to prepare themselves to the call of the people in distress. ''You should not only take part in rescue operations during fire accidents or floods but also organise drug de-addiction programme to rescue our younger generation from addictions'', he added.
In his speech, Major Ved Prakash, while emphasising on the importance of the training, said, the seva dal workers should dedicate themselves for the cause of the people. This training would be beneficial for the party in the long run as the cadres would be able to abreast themselves with the policies, philosophies and traditions of the Congress Party, which is the biggest Democratic Party in the world.
Reminding the Congress President's initiative in reaching to the people in distress, the AICC secretary said, ''Be it the Tsunami in South or the earthquake in Kashmir, she is there. Learn from her.
Reach to the people in need. You will not only help the people but also strengthen the party'', he pointed out.
Education minister Chowna Mein, PHED Minister Tater Kipa, and CWC member Mrs. Omem Deori, in their speeches exhorted the Seva Dal members to work for the party and stressed on unity and discipline, sources added.
