Saroja Kumari finishes 31st, Shweta Chowdhary 33rd in World Cup
New Delhi, May 2 (UNI) Saroja Kumari and Shweta Chowdhary left much to be desired and the Indian duo finished a poor 31st and 33rd respectively in the 25m Sports Pistol event at the World Cup at Resende, Brazil.
Saroja shot a score of 281 (91+96+94) in Precision and 283 (95+93+95) in Rapid to tally 564, while Shweta totalled 563 with 289 (97+93+99) in Precision and 274 (94+91+89) in the Rapid stage.
The Gold in this event was won by Serbian Jasna Sekaric with a score of 784.7 (584+200.7), the Silver was won by Spaniard Maria Pilar Fernandeze with 783.2 (580+203.2) while Renata Sike of Hungary won the Bronze with 782.4 (585+197.4).
In the Minimum Qualification Score section, Anisa Sayyed shot 278 (94+91+93) in Precision and 286 (96+95+95) in Rapid to tally 564 while Sonia Rai, who won the Bronze medal earlier in the 10m Air Pistol, shot 288 (95+96+97) in Precision and 271 (91+90+90) in the Rapid stage.
Meanwhile, Samresh Jung shot a score of 536 (85+89+96+91+91+84) in the elimination round of the 50m Free Pistol event. He was, however, given a two point penalty.
Vivek singh shot 542 (90+90+89+91+92+90) while B Biji shot a score of 539 (87+91+92+93+85+91), according to information received here today.
