Robbers decamp with Rs 9.5 lakh in two incidents

Jamnagar, May 2 (UNI) Two persons were looted to the tune of Rs 9.5 lakh in seperate incidents in this district today.

In the first instance, two persons looted a contractor with Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) Karsanbhai Devabhai Ahir of Rs seven lakh immediately after he withdrew the cash from the ICICI Bank here today.

After withdrawing the money from the bank, hardly had Karsanbhai placed the briefcase cotaining the cash in his Mahindra 'Bolero', the duo told him that the bank manager was calling him inside the bank.

Karsanbhai apparently locked the car with remote keys only to find the bag missing from the car, doors open, as the duo made good their escape on a waiting bicycle.

However, Ahir identified the two persons caught in the bank's closed circuit camera.

In another incident of loot in a similar manner, two persons engaged the booking clerk on duty at the reservation counter of Gandhinagar Railway Station in Jamnagar in talks and decamped with cash totalling about Rs 2.50 lakh. A complaint has been lodge with Railway Protection Force.

District Superintendent of Police Rajiv Ranjan Bhagat has ordered vigil at all exit points and closure of all police outposts.
