Railways earning register upward growth
New Delhi, May 2: The Railways earned Rs 3241.28 crore during the period April 1-20 compared to Rs. 2846.22 crore during the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 13.88 per cent.
The total goods earnings of Rs.2164.80 crore compared favourably with Rs.1855.12 crore during this period, showing an increase of 16.69 per cent.
The total passenger revenue earnings on originating basis during April 1-20 were Rs.976.91 crore as compared to Rs. 910.23 crore during the corresponding period last year.
The total revenue earnings from other coaching during this period were Rs. 80.96 crore compared to Rs. 63.47 crore during the corresponding period last year.
The total number of passengers booked during this period were 346.34 million compared to 324.42 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 6.76 per cent.
In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the total number of passengers booked were 197.11 million and 149.23 million compared to 189.10 million and 135.32 million respectively during the corresponding period last year.
