MCD to set up ten halls every year to meet shortage of marriage venu

New Delhi, May 2 (UNI) In a bid to meet shortage of marriage venues in the capital, following the closing down of all banquet halls as per the orders of the Delhi High court, the Municipal corporation of Delhi plans to set up ten new community halls every year.

''The MCD has plans to set up ten new community halls every year to meet shortage of marriage venues. Rs five to seven crore will be apportioned for the purpose in the corporation budget,''MCD spokesperson Deep Mathur told newspersons here.

Two community halls will be set up in each ward, Mr Mathur said.

It is notable that the closing down of all banquet halls, following the high court order banning such halls in residential areas, has led to a paucity of marriage venues in the capital with just 179 MCD community halls catering to the huge population of Delhi.

Of these more than 50 community halls are too small to cater to requirements of marriage venues.
