Mahajan's health deteriorates further, ARDS worsens
Mumbai, May 2: The condition of senior BJP leader Pramod Mahajan has further deteriorated in the last 24 hours and is 'critical'' as his respiratory distress has worsened, the Hinduja hospital said in his afternoon medical bulletin.
''The acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) has further worsened and all support systems on Mr Mahajan have gone up,'' hospital Director (administration) Anupam Verma told mediapersons.
''The condition is critical,'' he said.
Dr Gustad B Daver and Dr Farhad Kapadia are closely monitoring Mr Mahajan's condition, Dr Verma said.
When mediapersons asked him about Mr Mahajan's vital parameters like blood pressure, kidney functions and others, he only said ''the condition in totality is critical.'' Mr Mahajan, who was shot and critically injured allegedly by his younger brother Praveen on April 22, has undergone three surgeries in the last 10 days.
The last surgery on Saturday was done to clean up his abdominal cavity for preventing infection and for artificial internal feeding and tracheotomy, for proper ventilatory support.
