Kuwait hangs 5 men convicted of rape, other crimes
KUWAIT, May 2 (Reuters) Kuwait publicly hanged today five men convicted of various crimes including rape, murder and drug smuggling, the state news agency KUNA said.
It said the men, three Kuwaitis, an Indian and a Pakistani, were the largest number of people put to death in a single day since 1991.
The Muslim country imposes the death penalty, usually by hanging, for murder, drug smuggling, rape and crimes against the state.
