Jaya promises free gold for mangalsutra

Gudiyatham, Tamil Nadu, May 2 : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa promised to provide four gram gold to below poverty line women in marriageable age for making mangalsutra Addressing a campaign meeting here in suport of the party nominee J K L Palani, she flayed the Centre for its poor economic policies which led to shooting up of gold prices.

The present price of Rs 7,300-odd per sovereign of gold would touch Rs 10,000 in couple of years which will only make the women suffer as they will not be able to purchase gold for making the mangalsutra.

To help them, she decided to give free gold, she added.
