India-Pak discuss operational arrangements for trade across LOC

New Delhi, May 2 (UNI) India and Pakistan today reviewed operational arrangements and the condition of roads for truck service for trade on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad route and the launch of bus between Poonch in Jammu region and Rawalakot in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK).

On the first day of the two-day talks between the two countries on Confidence Building Measures (CBMs), which began at 1100 hrs, the two sides also discussed opening of two meeting points on the Line of Control (LOC), sources said.

The talks will conclude tomorrow and a Joint Statement is likely to be issued after the discussions end.

The Indian delegation at the talks is led by Mr Dilip Sinha, Joint Secretary (PAI), in the External Affairs Ministry, while the seven-member Pakistani side is headed by Mr. Syed Ibne Abbas, Director General (South Asia).

The two countries had agreed last month to fnalise modalities on these three proposals.

As part of the modalities for truck services on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad route across LOC, the nature and number of products to be traded across is also likely to figure during the two-day discussions.
