India has more under-nutritioned children than Africa : UNicef
London, Apr 2 (UNI) While Africa hogs the headlines when it comes to the plight under-nutritioned children, a recent Unicef report revealed there are more under-nutritioned children in India than the whole of Africa.
The report, titled 'Progress for Children', A Report Card on Malnutrition, has said there are 57 million malnutritioned children in India, while Africa has only 41 million.
After India, the worst countries for malnutrition are Bangladesh (8m), Pakistan (8m), China (7m), Nigeria (6m), Ethiopia (6m), and Indonesia (6m).
Half of the world's 146 million under-nourished children live in just three countries - India, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
The report to be published tomorrow will offer some sobering statistics about the world's failure to tackle extreme poverty and hunger.
