Highest net profit and gross income for Universal Cable

Kolkata, May 2 (UNI) Universal Cables Limited of the MP Birla Group recorded its highest ever achievement by posting about 350 per cent jump in its net profit and 50 per cent increase in the gross total income respectively at Rs 18.84 crore and Rs 338.87 crore during the year ended March 31, 2006.

As the company announced its annual financial results, the Directors declared an interim dividend of Rs. two per share for 2005-06.

Company Chairman R S Lodha said the company was progressing as per schedule on a major technological upgradation-cum-expansion programme involving a capital outlay of approximately Rs 63 crore.

The expansion would be completed in 2006-07, he said.
