HC issues notice to Govt on signing of Smart City project

Kochi, May 2 (UNI) A division bench of the Kerala High Court today issued notice to the State Government on a writ petition filed by the Election Commission challenging the permission to sign the final agreement of the Smart city project at Kochi.

The commission submitted that execution of the agreement would be a violation of the model code of conduct.

On a writ petition filed by Intelligent Decision Systems Pvt Ltd, a single judge of the High Court on April 18, set aside the directive of the Election Commission to the State Government to put on hold the agreement for the proposed project till the completion of election process.

The special leave appeal challenging this verdict filed by All India Lawyers Union also has been admitted by the bench comprising Justice K S Radhakrishnan and Justice K T Sankaran.
