Groundwater Recharge Advisory Council formed
New Delhi, May 2 (UNI) The government has constituted a high-level Artificial Recharge of Groundwater Advisory Council headed by Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz.
Aimed at popularising the concept of artificial recharge and creating public awareness, the Council will have wide representation from government, financial institutions and industry chambers.
The Rural Development Ministry, Ministry of Urban Development, Planning Commission and state governments will be represented on the council, according to official sources.
NABARD, Rural Electrification Corporation, FICCI, CII and Assocham as well as ONGC, Coal India and NGOs will be on the council as its members.
The terms of reference of the council include are-specific technology and coordination among states, Centre, industry and NGOs.
