Bangalore, May 2 (UNI) In an attempt to provide people with an avenue to support child rights, CRY (Child Rights and You) and BRIL have entered into a partnership on select products from BRIL's new range of school stationery.

The partnership allowed people to support the noble cause by purchasing select BRIL products as the company would donate one per cent from the sales (up to a maximum of Rs one lakh) to help ensure that under-privileged children in CRY-supported programmes have the basic rights to live, to go to school, to learn and to play. The initiative, which began on April one, would be on till July 31, according to a release here today.

''As a socially responsible company, we wanted to give back to society in some way. By partnering with CRY, we want children from well-to-do families to realise the importance of being socially responsible - they should know that there are kids who can't afford a decent education,'' BRIL Partner and Manager (Marketing) Jayaram said.

It may be noted that India had the dubious distinction of having the world's largest number of children who were out of school.

Besides, 17 million children in the country were child labourers, as per official estimates.
