CBI legal advisor granted bail in bribery case
Mumbai, May 2 (UNI) Bombay High Court today granted bail to CBI legal advisor R P Dwivedi, who was arrested for allegedly accepting bribes.
Granting bail, Justice V M Kanade directed Dwivedi to furnish a surety of Rs 25,000 and not to tamper the evidence available against him.
On March 14, Dwivedi was arrested by CBI's anti- corruption ureau (ACB) under sections 8 and 14 of the Prevention of Corruption Act after he had accepted Rs two lakh from a complainant in exchange of giving him judicial favours.
Earlier, his bail plea was rejected by the Sessions court on April two on the ground that prima facie material was available against him.
However, Dwivedi's lawyer B B Tiwari contended before the court that his client was being falsely implicated in the case, and the investigation in the matter was over and, hence, he should be granted bail.
