Bank manager sentenced in bribery case

Patna, May 2 (UNI) Special CBI judge of Patna Ramanand Sharma today sentenced a bank manager to two years rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 5000 in a bribery case.

The designated judge found former manager of Vaishali Khetriya Gramin Bank, Yadupatti branch in Sitamarhi district Shailendra Kumar Sinha guilty under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act.

According to the charges the convict was caught red handed by CBI sleuths while accepting a bribe of Rs 3000 for disbursing a housing loan to a customer of the bank on March 7, 2003.

Meanwhile, Mr. Sharma in another case of forgery and corruption awarded four years of rigorous imprisonment in adition to a fine of Rs 10,000 to a former special assistant in Siwan branch of Canara bank.

According to the charges convict Bhagwan Singh withdrew Rs 1.40 lakhs from the account of a customer of the bank by forging his signature on November 15, 1991.
