Anti-reservation protest of BHU Medicos nipped

Written by: Staff

Varanasi, May 2 (UNI) Securitymen deployed at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) today prevented varsity's medical students from staging a major protest over the reservation issue.

The Law Faculty students of the central varsity, however, staged demonstration outside the BHU on the issue.

The budding doctors as planned gathered at the Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), BHU this evening to take out a procession against the UPA government's proposed move of 27 per cent OBC reservation in higher education.

The procession, however, remained confined to the IMS campus with the University Proctorial Board personnel locking the exit of the institute.

Meanwhile, mild protests were reported outside the BHU gate by law faculty students holding placards against the proposed reservation for OBCs in the central government-owned institutions of higher education.
