Aluminium production went up during 2005-06

New Delhi, May 2 (UNI) The total production of Aluminium in the country during 2005-06 has been estimated at 10,03,182 tonnes against 8,83,472 tonnes produced during the same period last year.

According to an official release issued here today, the public sector National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) produced 3,58,955 tonnes and Bharat Aluminium Company Ltd (BALCO), with 49 per cent Central Government equity. produced 1,84,070 tonnes.

In the private sector, Hindustan Aluminium Company Ltd (HINDALCO) produced 4,23,440 tonnes and Madras Aluminium Company Ltd (MALCO) 36,717 tonnes. The total installed annual capacity of these four plants is 11,36,000 tonnes.

In March 2006, the total production of Aluminium in the country was lower at 93,342 tonnes as against the target of 95,772 tonnes.

Out of this, NALCO produced 30,541 tonnes, BALCO 23,077 tonnes, HINDALCO 36,943 tonnes and MALCO 2,781 tonnes.

NALCO, sold 90,756 tonnes of Alumina Hydrate during the month and exported 9,633 tonnes of Aluminium.
