10000 sikhs to visit Pakistan for 400th martrydom of Guru Arjun De

New Delhi, May 2 (UNI) A 'jatha' of 10,000 Sikh pilgrims will visit the Pakistani city of Lahore next month in connection with the celebration of the 400th martrydom day of the fifth Sikh Guru Arjun Dev.

The Union ministry of Home affairs has accorded permission to send a jatha of 10000 Sikh pilgrims to Gurudwara Dehra Sahib in Lahore from June 8 to 17, the general secretary of the national sikh organisation of India said.

The jatha consists of pilgrims from the states of Punjab, the Union territory of Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi, UP, MP, Maharashtra, Uttaranchal, Bihar, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Karnataka.

About 6000 pilgrims will be from Punjab, 1850 from Delhi, 670 from Haryana and the rest from the other states, Mr Chandok said.
