10 killed in AP lorry accident

Vijayawada, May 2 (UNI) Ten people, including six women, were killed on the spot and two others injured when a lorry turned turtle at Anumolu Lanka in Gampalagudem Mandal of Krishna District last night.

Superintendent of Police M K Singh, who visited the spot, told UNI here this morning the accident occurred when the vehicle, proceeding to Gampalagudem Market Yard from Kanumuru, tried to negotiate a curve damaged in the recent rains.

Of the 20 passengers travelling on the roof of the lorry, some jumped before the vehicle overturned while the others were trapped.

The injured were rushed to Thiruvur Hospital and later shifted to a hospital here. The lorry driver is absconding, the SP added.
