Prem Prashant new Haryana Chief Secretary
Chandigarh, May 1 (UNI) The Haryana Government today appointed Mr Prem Prashant, a 1970 batch IAS officer of the state cadre, as the new Chief Secretary of the state.
Mr Prashant succeeds Mrs Meenaxi Anand Chaudhary, who retired from service yesterday. He will be the 24th Chief Secretary of the state.
Before being appointed as Chief Secretary, Mr Prashant was Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Home, Jails, Criminal Investigation and Administration of Justice, General Administation, Personnel,Training, Vigilance and Parliamentary Affairs departments.
In addition to holding the post of Chief Secretary, he will also be Secretary, Plan Coordination, against a vacant post.
A lecturer in Physics in a college under the Agra University before joining the elite IAS, Mr Prashant has held a number of important posts both at the Centre and in the state. He served for six years in the Union government as Director,Foreign Division.
