New Delhi, May 01 (UNI) Opposing the Government's submission before the Liberhan Commission probing the Ayodhya demolition, the BJP today said there was no evidence to substantiate the ''politically motivated'' charge that the party conspired with saffron organisations to bring down the structure on December 6, 1992.

BJP counsel Satya Pal Jain submitted before the Commission, on behalf of senior leaders L K Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi, that the Government had taken a ''new stand'' that a conspiracy was hatched to bring down the structure.

Neither in the White Paper of 1993 nor when the Government counsel completed his argument in 2004 did the Centre take the stand that there was a conspiracy behind the demolition, he said, arguing that the Government should not be allowed to place more arguments especially when it contradicted its own earlier stand in the matter.

The Government's ''new stand'' in the written submission of April 19 last was politically motivated, legally untenable and ''factually far, far away from truth'', the counsel said.

He also opposed it saying the Government did not give sufficient reason for the delay in filing it.

In its written submission last month, the Centre had said that the demolition of Babri mosque in Ayodhya was ''an act of conspiracy'' between the then Uttar Pradesh government under Chief Minister Kalyan Singh, his cabinet colleagues, various prominent leaders of BJP and the Sangh Parivar.

This stand contrasted with the Government's earlier positions (when the NDA was in power) that the demolition was due to a sudden upsurge of kar sevaks and not because of the actions of any individual or group.

After hearing Government counsel Yogesh Malhotra also, the Commission today reserved its order for May 10. The Commission will also consider the same day the Centre's application explaining the delay in filing its submission.

The Commission had closed arguments in the case on March 28.

After several reminders, the Centre finally filed the written submission on April 19.
