Mulayam promises tough fight to Sonia in Rae Bareli

Ghazipur, UP, May 1 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav today asserted his party's candidate would put up a strong fight against Congress President Sonia Gandhi in the May 8 Rae Bareli bypoll.

''Our candidate is a strong contender in the bypoll,'' Mr Yadav said talking to newspersons at the air strip here.

He asserted his government had ushered in good governance, which had ''prevented terrorism and naxalism take seat in the state''.

He maintained that the state assembly polls would be held on time and his government would complete its full term.

''Except for minor crime incidents, the law and order situation in the state is commendable,'' the SP chief claimed.
