Malhotra reappointed PAC chairman
New Delhi, May 1 (UNI) Prof Vijay Kumar Malhotra, MP, was today appointed chairman of the Public Accounts Committee for 2006-07.
Prof Malhotra, BJP deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, was chairman of the previous PAC also.
Prof Malhotra will head the 22-member committee whose term begins today and ends on April 30, 2007, a Lok Sabha Secretariat press release said.
The committee will have 14 members from the Lok Sabha, besides Prof Malhotra, and seven from the Rajya Sabha.
The members are: Mr Khagen Das, Mr P S Gadhavi, Mr R L Jalappa, Mr Raghunath Jha, Mr Bhartruhari Mahtab, Mr Brajesh Pathak, Prof M Ramadass, Mr Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy, Mr Madan Lal Sharma, Mr Mohan Singh, Mr Rajiv Ranjan 'Lalan' Singh, Mr Kharabela Swain, Mr K V Thangkabalu, Mr Tarit Baran Topdar (all Lok Sabha), Mr V Narayanasamy, Mr R K Dhawan, Mr Janardhana Poojary, Mr Suresh Bhardwaj, Mr Prasanta Chatterjee, Dr K Malaisamy and Mr Ravula Chandra Sekar Reddy (all Rajya Sabha).
The PAC for 2005-2006 had presented reports on important and tropical subjects such as assessment of private schools, colleges and coaching centres, pilgrimage to Sabarimala--human problems and ecology, procurement and utilisation of plant and equipment in DRDO, National AIDS Control Programme, and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan.
