Madhya Pradesh-HC notice to Chouhan

Jabalpur, May 1 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court today issued notices to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and three others regarding the state government withdrawing a criminal case against the senior BJP leader.

Justice Manjusha P Namjoshi heard a petition by Bhopal-resident Advocate Siddharth Gupta.

Prosecutor Grisham Jain submitted that the criminal case was registered, during Congress tenure, against Mr Chouhan and 17 others in 1996 for blocking a road in Raisen district. Fifteen secured bail and paid fines.

Replies have to be filed by May 11.

A lower court approved the withdrawal of the case on December 6 last year.
