Konkan Rail material management deptt gets ISO certification

New Delhi, May 1 (UNI) Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) has become the first railway in the country to get ISO 9001:200 certification for its entire Materials Management department, including its depots at Ratnagiri and Madgaon.

The certification for the KRCL came last month from the Quality Service, Zurich AG-Switzerland. It includes provision of cost-effective material support to facilitate smooth train operations and project activities of the Konkan Railway.

Earlier, Madgaon railway station was accorded the ISO certification, The Materials Management Department of the Konkan Railway is fully computerised with online maintenance of inventory, purchase, including tendering, indenting, placement of purchase order and stores billing.

Even the indents raised by the depots are forwarded online to the headquarters for further processing, making the entire process quick and glitch-free, a Railway Ministry spokesman said here today.
