Indian hurt in the movement against King, dies

Kathmandu, May 1: An Indian national, who was injured in the firing by the security forces during the pro-democracy agitation, died in hospital.

Mohammad Jahangir, 35, was admitted at Model Hospital after he was injured on April 21 in Tripureshwor.

The death toll of those killed during the recent anti-monarchy movement has now reached 19 , after Jahangir sucumbbed to the injuries yesterday.

The Seven-party Alliance (SPA), with the support of Maoists and civil society, launched a massive movement against the King across the country, forcing him to hand over power and reinstate the House of Representatives.

Nearly half a million people came to the streets of Kathmandu defying curfew and tens of thousands of people participated in the demonstrations in almost all the major cities and towns of the Himalayan nation making it a historic movement in the political history of Nepal.
