Guj CM spends five hours in mid-sea with Naval officials
Porbandar, Gujarat, May 1 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi praised the naval staff for their outstanding services in safeguarding the 1600 km long coast of the state with great geo-strategic location.
As a part of the May-day (Gujarat Gaurav-day) celebrations, the Chief Minister spent five hours yesterday in mid-sea and watched the various sea exercises conducted by the Naval staff.
Mr Modi said the Navy has a great responsibility to protect the high sea of Indian terrotory.
The Chief Minister sailed in ''I N S Maisure'' ship with top brass Naval Officials. He assured the Naval staff that Gujarat Government would provide all type of supports for their sea-activities while safeguarding the nation.
Western Naval Command of Navy has organised the programme ''Day in sea with Chief Minister'' as part of the May-Day celebrations.
Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Vice Admiral Sangramsinh Bayas of Westeran Naval Command of Porbandar base, Western Fleet Flag Officer Commanding Rear Admiral Anup Singh and Gujarat Naval in-charge Utpal Vora were on Board with Mr Modi.
On the occasion, Naval staff undertook the exercises of Missiles Vessals Demonstration, close range anti-aircraft gun firing, anti-submarine rocket firing and Search and rescue operation.
Gujarat Energy Minister Saurabh Patel and Chief Secretary Sudhir Mankad accompanied the Gujarat Chief Minister.
