CPI-Maoist ultras blow up BJP leader's house

Chatra, May 1 (UNI) More than 400 armed CPI-Maoist ultras blew up a local BJP leader's residence, that also housed a post office with cylinder bombs at Mokatamma village here late last night.

Police said the ultras took away many valuables and foodgrain worth lakhs of rupees.

The ultras came at around 1900 hrs. On reaching BJP leader Nanda Singh's residence, they asked the occupants to vacate it and started ransacking it. They also set a nearby thatched house afire, police added.

According to reports received here, the rebels decamped with Rs 25,000 cash deposited at the post office, 250 quintals of foodgrains, 15 mobile phones, jewellery, motorcycles and 50 cows.

On April 18, the ultras had blown up three under-construction police buildings at the same district.
