BJP demands all-party meet on MFIs

Hyderabad, May 1 (UNI) The BJP State Unit today demanded the state government convene an all-party meet on Micro Finance Institutions (MFIs) providing high interest loans to Self Help Groups (SHGs) in the state.

Addressing the press here, BJP State Spokesperson S V Sheshagiri Rao pointed out the MFIs were charging 15 per cent flat interest rate on loans to SHGs.

Claiming about 200 belonging to the SHGs had committed suicide due due to harrasment from the MFIs, he said the government failed to keep them under check.

State BJP Dalit Morcha President Raja Rao sought reservation for SCs in inter and degree corporate colleges and the immediate release of scholarships due to them.
