ABKM claims Bhartiya Janshakti flag, symbol

Gwalior, May 1: Just a day after Uma Bharti launched her Bhartiya Janshakti, the Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha (ABKM) has laid its claim to the party's saffron flag and sun symbol.

''This community, which has fought for respect, prestige and honour, will not permit using of its flag and symbol for political purpose under any circumstances,'' ABKM regional chairman and national executive member Abhimanyu Singh Sengar said in a statement here.

Mr Sengar said the outfit would complain to the Election Commission regarding the ABKM's 113-year-old saffron flag and its 'Sun' symbol being ''stolen'' by the newly-launched party.

Mr Sengar said the creators of the new party should have studied about the flag and the symbol before adopting it.

He added the ABKM will take it to the streets if the appeal was not accepted.
