Tiruchirapalli, Apr 30 (UNI) Union Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation G K Vasan today criticised Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa for blocking the Centre from implementing various welfare schemes for the development of the state.

Talking to newspersons here, he alleged that Ms Jayalalithaa had not shown any interest for the development of the state and hence, she had not welcomed the welfare schemes offered by the Centre.

Mr Vasan alleged that Ms Jayalalithaa always indulged in confrontation with the Centre and blamed the Union Ministers, representing the state that they have not done anything for the state, despite the Centre roping in about Rs 27,000 crore schemes to the state.

He said he had so far covered nearly 90 constituencies in his election campaign for the May 8 poll. He could witness a swing in favour of the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) for the Centre's beneficial schemes to the nation on the whole, especially to Tamil Nadu, he added.

He said the election manifesto of DPA partners, would fulfill the needs of poor people. The anti-incumbancy factor in Tamil Nadu, would weigh in favour of DPA, he added.

On the DPA's prospects in the assembly elections, he said he does not want to go by numbers. The DPA will gain absolute majority and in the coming days the wind will blow in favour of the DPA candidates, as more voters will be inclined to opt for our alliance, he added.

Mr Vasan said the agenda of the Congress will be completed, only after ousting the unpopular AIADMK government from the state.
