Uma gets recognition of her strength from Arjun Singh
New Delhi, Apr 30 (UNI) Expelled BJP leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti, who today floated a new political outfit'Bharatiya Janshakti', found recognition of her strength from an unexpected quarter--senior Congress leader and Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh.
''Of course Uma Bharti is a force in Madhya Pradesh, '' Mr Singh told reporters here when asked about her impact on the politics of the state and how the Congress will take it on.
However, Mr Singh, who had dominated the political scene in the state for a long period, said the ''presence of Ms Bharti was going to harm the BJP, not so much the Congress.
The Congress was capable of taking on this challenge, but it is the BJP which will feel difficulties.'' When asked if she will be contributing to the evolution of a Third Front, Mr Singh quipped, ''When she calls herself Number two in BJP, there was no questions of her seeking such a role.'' Replying to a question about his critical remarks on the state Congresspersons regarding the Narmada issue, Mr Singh said he was happy to see that the state Congress Committee had taken note of his views.
''My only concern was the plight of tribals. I am concerned with the Dam height,'' he said.
