Sonia to participate in tribal convention

Jabalpur, Apr 30 (UNI) Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi will be the chief guest in a tribal convention being organised by Adivasi Shabri Sangh (ASS) here on June 11, party secretary Kaushalya Gotia said today.

Ms Gotia told reporters here today that the ASS has received the acknowledgement of Ms Gandhi's arrival.

The programme will be chaired by Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh. Union Minister of State (MoS) for Agriculture Kantilal Bhuria, MoS for Railways Naranbhai J Rathwa and state Congress President Subhash Yadav will also be present.

She said the ASS has pledged to conduct mass marriages of 500 couples through 'Adarsh Samuhik Vivah Mahayagya'.

Ms Gotia demanded the constitution of the Adivasi Kaul Development Authority. She added that proposal will be put forward during the forthcoming convention.
