Saran Vikram claims a double to corner glory

Chennai, Apr 30 (UNI) Fifteen year-old Chennai boy, Saran Vikram cornered glory in the fourth round of the J K Tyre Racing Cup for Juniors winning both the races in the Formula Maruti category and finishing first and third in the Esteem category races at the Irungattukottain track near here today.

In the Race 1 in the Formula Maruti category, which started with a three vehicle pile up in the first lap forcing the race to be terminated when the race was restarted, pole leader Saran Vikram Tmars shot ahead with a blazing start.

Finishing in the second place was the Bangalore boy Sudarshana Rao while championship leader 16 year old Ajay Kini from Chennai placed third.

In Race 2, the grid positions for the first 8 places were reversed with those who finished first starting in eighth place and those in eighth place starting first.

The organisers introduced this concept in round 3 to give the newcomers a chance to develop their racing skills. The race was stopped in the first lap after a mishap involving two cars. As in the first race, the contest had to be stopped and restarted. Saran Vikram Tmars completed his second win of the day making it a deserving double. Ajay Kini finished second, while Vignesh Devarajan from Coimbatore placed third.
