Patil hails Union Ministers from TN
Chennai, Apr 30 (UNI) Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil today said the performance of Union Ministers from Tamil Nadu has drawn appreciation from all parts of the country.
His remark assumed significance as it comes in the wake of criticism levelled by Chief Minister and AIADMK Supremo J Jayalithaa that the Union Ministers from the State had done nothing for Tamil Nadu.
Addressing an election meeting here to canvass votes for the DMK-led DPA, he said the representatives from Tamil Nadu were managing the finances of the country and connecting different states with roads and communication facilities.
''It is your representative who is making the policies for protecting the environment of our country, helping the people in rural areas to become economically strong,'' he added.
It was natural for the people of the State to feel happy and proud of their representatives who were working closely with the Union Government, he said.
Mr Patil said it was with their help that the Centre was able to understand what should be done for the people of Tamil Nadu in times of difficulties and their policies and attitude was very much appreciated in other States.
He also promised all efforts to reduce the unemployment in the State.
Appreciating the people of Tamil Nadu for the courage and determination shown by them during tsunami and the subsequent floods, he said during last two years they had faced the difficulties inflicted upon them by natural calamities.
