Man burns woman to death on refusal to pay dowry
Patna, Apr 30 (UNI) A fast track court of Patna awarded life imprisonment to a person in a murder case.
The court also slapped a fine of Rs 7,000 against the convict yesterday.
Judge Dilip Kumar Jha found Ishwar Kant Rai guilty of murdering a girl with whom he was supposed to marry.
According to the charges, the victim, Priya Rani was burnt to death by the convict, when the demand for dowry of Rs one lakh and a motorcycle was denied by the parents of the girl in 1994.
The convict, a resident of Gopalganj district was found guilty under various sections of IPC and the Dowry Prohibition Act.
