Govt to facilitate medical centres across state: Tiwari
Dehra Dun, Apr 30 (UNI) Uttaranchal Chief Minister N D Tiwari today said his goverment planned to provide medical centres across the state with comprehensive equipment, to facilitate maximum treatment at one place.
For this purpose the government was taking help of foreign investors and specialists, he said while laying the foundation stone for Dr Swami Ram Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre at Haldwani.
''World Health Organisation has already been approached in this context,'' he added.
The financially weaker sections would be provided free medical facilities, he said further.
Announcing Rs 10 crore for foundation of the Cancer hospital, Mr Tiwari said with Central government sanctioning Rs 4,000 crore for state's annual programme, there would be no paucity in fund for any kind of developmental programmes in the state.
''The state is receiving all kind of help from the centre'', he claimed.
Secretary of Uttaranchal Forest Hospital Trust Mr Monish Mallik said the Cancer hospital needed Rs 30 crore in the first phase .
''Trust has already set-up 'Karunanidhi' to extend free medical help to the poor,'' he added.
Renowned Cancer specialist M C Pant, on the occasion, emphasised on spreading awareness towards cancer disease at the school level.
