Gangotri,Yamunotri opened to public,Yatra season starts today.
Uttarkashi, Apr 30 (UNI) 'Kapats' (doors) of Gangotri and Yamunotri, two of the Char dhams in Uttaranchal, were opened today for pilgrims amid recitation of vedic mantras.
Other two dhams-Badrinath and Kedarnath are scheduled to be opened on May 4. The Yatra season took off with the opening of these two dhams today, which had been closed during the winter.
According to temple sources, thousands of pilgrims had reached the sites when doors of both the temples were opened for the public at 1035 hrs.
Gangotri dham was open after a shobha yatra of Ganga, which started yesterday, from Mukhba village reached the temple and the idol was installed in the main temple amidt recitation of vedic mantras. Similarly, the Yamunotri was also opened for the pilgrims after the Shobha yatra of idol of Yamuna from Kharsali Gaon reached the main temple.
