DMK will form govt. on its own:MK
Salem, Apr 30 (UNI) Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) President M Karunanidhi today claimed that going by the present situation, the DMK would form a government on its own after the May 8 assembly polls in Tamil Nadu.
Talking to mediapersons here, he said the possibility of the DMK forming the government was more at present.
He was responding to the question whether Tamil Nadu would have a coalition government after the elections.
Mr Karunanidhi who had been claiming right from the beginning that the DMK would get the necessary majority and form the government on its own, retracted from the stand and announced that his party was not averse to forming a coalition government. He made these remarks when various pre poll surveys predicted a close finish.
To a question on the turn out expected during polling, he said going by the people's enthusiasm, the turn out was not expected to be low.
''I don't know and I don't want to comment'', was the DMK chief's reply when asked about an alleged secret understanding between BJP and the DMDK of actor Vijaykanth.
