Salem, Apr 30 (UNI) The DMK today announced that his party would consider hiking subsidy for kersone sold through the Public Distribution System (PDS).

Talking to reporters here, DMK President M Karunanidhi said the price of kerosene would naturally come down if the subsidy was increased. ''The quantum of susbidy can be announced only after studying the subsidy component. We will study it and announce them'', he added.

He also announced that the DMK would urge the Centre to increase the quantum of kerosene given to the state. The Union government was at present giving 58,000 kilo litres of kerosene to Tamil Nadu, which met only 70 per cent of the state's requirements.

''We will urge the Centre to increase it'', he said and claimed that if the Tamil Nadu government had distributed the present quantum properly, the people's requirements would be fulfilled.

Alleging irregularities in distribution of kerosene through the PDS, Mr Karunanidhi said if the DMK was voted to power, the lacunae would be identified to ensure proper distribution.
