Defence Ministry praises Bihar government on SAP : Nitish
Patna, Apr 30 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said that Defence Ministry had appreciated the state government's initiative of raising the Special Auxiliary Police(SAP) by recruiting retired army personnel.
Addressing a meeting of retired army personnel here, Mr Kumar said the Defence Ministry has advised other states to utilise services of retired army jawans based on the Bihar government model.
He said that retired army jawans were of very young age and they could handle sophisticated fire arms.
Explainig the reasons behind raising SAP, he said that the state was witnessing shortage of police forces and recruitment process would take time to fill-up the vacancies in the state police.
Mr Kumar hinted at the possibilities of utilising the services of retired army personnel in providing relief to flood victims of the state.
