Churchill Brothers trounce Vasco 3-1

Bangalore, Apr 30 (UNI) Churchill Brothers trounced Vasco Sports Club 3-0 to emerge leader in the table in the final round of the Second Division ONGC Cup National Football League here today.

At lemon break, the winners were leading 2-1.

Nigerian striker Odafe Onyeka Okolie was the hero for Churchill Brothers as he not only accounted for opening the account but also scored two goals.

Striker Jotin Singh opened the account for the winners in the 35th minute encashing a pass by Okolie. Within a couple of minutes Okolie scored the second goal for his team.

However, Vasco mid-fielder Rovan Pereira reduced the margin in 42nd minute taking advantage of a pass by Denis Cabral from the corner.

Churchill Brothers, who had full control over the match, increased the lead as Okolie scored a superb goal in the 64th minute.

Vasco, though tried their best, could not succeed due to poor finishing and lack of understanding.

With this win, Churchill Brothers moved to top of in the points table with six points from two matches, while Vasco, after two matches, has only one point to their credit, having drawn against State Bank of Travancore in their first encounter.
