Anjali misses bronze in ISSF World Cup in Brazil

New Delhi, Apr 30 (UNI) A shaky start in the final round cost Anjali Bhagwat dear as she missed the bronze by a whisker and finished fourth in 50m 3 Position Women event at the World Cup in Resende, Brazil.

Anjali shot a score of 679 (582+97) with a series of a perfect Prone 200 (100,100), Standing 187 (96,91) and Kneeling 195 (99,96).

In the finals, Anjali started off nervously with her third shot being the lowest of 7.8. The ace shooter was left to rue the missed chance which cost her the medal.

Meanwhile, Melbourne Commonwealth Games gold medalist Anuja Jung finished 27th, with a score of 571 after a series of Prone 194 (97,97), Standing 195 (95,100) and Kneeling 182 (93,89). The gold in this event was won by Tatiana Goldobina of Russia with a score of 683.2 (582+101.2), the silver went to Yi Zhang of China with a score of 682.7 (584+98.7) and compatriot Bo Liu won the bronze with a score of 680.8 (580+100).

In the men's section, Gagan Narang finished a disappointing 29th in the 50m 3 Position Rifle after shooting a score of 1150 with Prone 396 (99,99,99,99) Standing 376 (91,95,95,95) and Kneeling 378 (95,96,93,94).

Compatriot Sanjeev Raput finished 33rd with a score of 1147 with Prone 394 (99,98,99,98), Standing 373 (92,95,92,94) and Kneeling 380 (97,94,93,96). The gold in this event was won by Austrian Farnik Thomas with a score of 1265.4 (1170+95.4), the silver was won by Norwegian Vebjoern Berg (1168+97.2) while Artem Khadjibekov of Russia won the bronze after firing a score of 1264.9 (1170+94.9).
