Train crashes against motorcycle, no harm to life

Vadodara, Apr 29 (UNI) A major disaster was averted when 2009 Mumbai-Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express today dashed against a motorcycle at the Navayard level crossing near here. No one was however injured in the incident.

According to Vadodara Divisional Railway Manager K L Pande the accident could have caused a serious disaster as the speeding train that had just left Vadodara station, dragged the bike upto a distance of 250 metres before it came to a halt.

Due to spilling of oil, the bike immediately caught fire but no major damage was caused to the engine.

GRP sources said the the motorcyclist, who was with his minor daughter, however managed to escape as he had a bandoned his vehicle on the track a few seconds before the train rammed into it.

Police was looking for the bike owner after registering a case of trespassing.
