Srinagar, Apr 29 (UNI) Security forces gunned down a top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) in south Kashmir today, a defence ministry spokesman said.

He said troops and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir launched a joint operation at village Samboora in south Kashmir district of Pulwama early morning.

However, when the troops were about to storm a particular house, militants opened fire and also hurled hand grenades. The fire was returned and in the fierce clash, self-styled Battalion Commander (BC) of HM Bilal Ahmad Dar was killed.
