Three persons feared drowned after boat capsizes in Bengal
Kolkata, Apr 29 (UNI) Three persons, including two school students, were feared drowned when a country boat ferrying them capsized midstream at Bhandardaha lake under Beldanga police station in Murshidabad district today.
Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Raj Kanojia quoting reports from district headquarters said the accident took place at around 1100 hrs when the boat ferrying nearly 50 people, mostly school students, from the nearby Ghoramara High School was hit by a small wave in the two km-wide lake and capsized.
While most of the students and other passengers swam ashore, three people, including two class seven students, went missing.
Soon a rescue and search operation was launched in the lake by the police and fire brigade personnel, but the bodies were yet to be recovered out, Mr Kanojia added.
