Vijayawada, Apr 29 (UNI) The Social Service Centre (SSC) which offered contribution for construction of 2,000 houses to the tsunami victims is yet to complete the task.

Talking to UNI, SSC Director P Balaswamy said the delay is due to non-availability of material and workforce.

A survey conducted by the District administration revealed that tsunami rendered 3,821 families in 62 villages homeless in this district.

With many NGOs offering aid to the victims, the administration had chalked out a plan to construct houses for them and the estimates ran into Rs 28.65 crore, each house costing Rs 75,000.

The administration has decided to contribute Rs 40,000 and urged the NGOs to bear the remaining cost.
